Free agent Devean George, who's been a bit of a disappointment over the past few years, has reportedly signed with the NBA World Champion runner-ups, the Dallas Mavericks. The word is that George will sign a two-year, $4.2 million dollar contract, which will cut the salaries he received from 2002 to 2006 in half.
While he has been hampered a bit with injuries, I never was really impressed with George. He showed some promise in his early years, but hasn't lived up to the hope or hype. Hopefully he'll find his niche in the Mavs and be able to shine and play to his potential, but I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes the Adrian Griffin of the Mavs next season - ~5 ppg on 20 or so minutes, with a limited role in crunch time and the playoffs.
