Check out TJ's blog, OrlandoMagicFan.com. He's got a lot of great thoughts and posts about the Magic, everyone's favorite 8th seed team. :-) It's too bad Hill didn't pan out for them, but I remember thinking back when they dropped those hundreds of millions of dollars for him, "What in the world are you hiring that injury case for?" It would be like a team dropping serious change for Carter's contract - sure, he may draw in the crowds for the 45 games he plays each season, but he's really only going to hurt your team by taking up cap space that could be used for impact guys (such as Malone and Payton <g>). It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, Juwan Howard will be able to bring to the table for the Magic. To be honest, I'm not expecting much.
My prediction: Assuming T-Mac stays healthy, I see the Magic back in the bottom rungs of the East come April.
Stuck in rather thick traffic yesterday, I started filling in my fiancee about the latest details of the Kobe Bryant case. I mentioned that on two occassions, Byrant had called 9-1-1 for medical assistance for a woman at his home in L.A.. In both cases, no criminal charges were filed, but ambulances were sent to the home nevertheless. I then told my fiancee how the hotel Bellman reportedly saw the alledged victim leaving the hotel disheveled and with red marks on her face and neck. I told her how on the night of the alledged crime, Bryant called his wife shortly before the alledged victim came to his room.
My sweet fiancee, aggregating all of this data, pontificated that perhaps this whole ordeal can be explained by Bryant just being into S&M. That, she conteded, would explain the 9-1-1 calls. Perhaps the alledged victim initially started to have sex with Bryant, but once it got kinky, she got a bit scared, but either let Bryant continue or tried to stop him. But wait, I told her, when calling 9-1-1, reportedly the 9-1-1 operator talked to three adults. Of course, my fiancee had an explanation for that: the Bryant's - Venessa and Kobe - are swingers. In fact, she concluded, Bryant called his wife that night prior to the alledged rape to tell her of his upcoming sexual conquest.
Ok, so it's all a bit far-fetched, but if there is even a glimmer of fact in these wild assumptions, this will no doubt be one of the most talked about and interesting court cases in my lifetime. It's like slowing to see a car wreck on the side of the road, where the injured are perfoming lewd acts to one another.
